Sheriff Danny Hickman reports that Deputies were dispatched to a local restaurant, The Depot, at approximately 11:17 pm on Saturday, July 31, regarding a call about a fight involving weapons.
Deputies arrived to find two male subjects involved in a fight. The fight had been broken up when allegedly one of the male subjects pulled out a knife. Two female employees rushed the man to try and make him put the knife away. One female had multiple cuts to her hand and a broken wrist. The other female had injuries to an elbow. Both had their injuries treated. The male subjects both received only minor abrasions.
One of the males allegedly made threats to the other man of bodily harm as he was leaving the scene. Josh Smith, age 25, was arrested at the Newton County Sheriff’s Department and transported to the Boone County Jail where he was charged with Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threatening and 3rd Degree Battery with bond set at $50,000. At the time of this release Smith was still incarcerated.
