Sheriff Danny Hickman reports that a call came into the Sheriff’s Department regarding several dogs that appeared to be mistreated. Deputy Jason Phifer investigated this call on Fields Lane and found several dogs roaming the property that had ribs and backbones showing. Dep. Phifer also found a kennel and dog houses on the property that housed one dog that had no food or water. The Humane Society was contacted and removed all the dogs on the property with the assistance of the Harrison City Police Animal Control.
While Phifer was at the scene, Bryon Lawrence, age 34 years, showed up with a bag of dog food. He was taken into custody and charged with Cruelty to Animals with a bond of $6,390.00. At the time of this report Lawrence had bonded out of the Boone County Jail.
