Sheriff Danny Hickman reports that on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, Boone County Sheriff’s Office, the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force and the Harrison Police Department, located three individuals wanted by Probation and Parole. These three individuals were identified as Michael Smith Jr., 26; Mark Hemphill, 22, and Heather Carter, 30. These three individuals were located coming out of a Harrison pharmacy. During a search of Smith’s vehicle, investigators located items used to manufacture meth.
Investigators further learned that Carter and Hemphill had been involved in the manufacture of meth and Smith had purchased items for the manufacturing process. In the course of this investigation they also uncovered information regarding the manufacture of methamphetamine in the area of Prairie View Road and Highway 206 near Crooked Creek. The task force arrived at the scene and located a back pack containing items constituting a “meth lab”.
Hemphill and Carter were both charged with Manufacturing a Controlled Substance-Meth and remain in custody at the Boone County Jail with no bond. Smith was charged with Conspiracy to Manufacture a Controlled Substance-Meth and remains in custody at the Boone County Jail with no bond. All three individuals will appear in Boone County Circuit Court on Friday, January 28th, 2011.
