Sheriff Danny Hickman reports that the Sheriff's office is investigating the death of Ronald R. Mallory, age 54, of Diamond City. Sheriff Hickman said the Diamond City Police Department had contacted the Sheriff’s Department on October 2nd requesting assistance in the investigation.
Mallory was arrested in August in connection with a shooting incident in Lead Hill; there was concern raised because his death occurred while he was out on bond waiting for trial. Sheriff Hickman said all unattended deaths in the county are investigated by the Sheriff’s Office as a matter of policy and this investigation would follow the same guidelines as any other similar incident.
Investigators went to Mallory’s residence and spent several hours examining the scene and the circumstances of his death. Sergeant Marc Arnold reported there was no forced entry, no sign of a struggle and nothing to indicate Mallory’s death was suspicious. As a precaution the house was sealed pending the results of an autopsy by the State Medical Examiner. Sheriff Hickman said his office would make a preliminary determination about the cause of death after results of the autopsy were obtained.
