Sheriff Mike Moore reports that on Monday, June 24, 2013, Investigators from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office arrested Justin T. Lathrop (age 20) on two counts of Commercial Burglary, Theft of Property, Criminal Mischief, and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
Justin Lathrop’s charges stem from burglaries of the Bergman School campus in late December 2012 and again on May 26, 2013. On Monday, June 24 investigators were at Lathrop’s residence to speak with him about the burglaries when investigators noted a television in plain sight that was recognized as reported stolen from Bergman Schools.
Investigators interviewed Lathrop who confessed that he and two Boone County juveniles burglarized the school in late December and stole property including the television, an Apple Ipad, and a class pet, which is a live Bearded Dragon. Lathrop confessed he and one of the juveniles again burglarized the school on May 26th searching for cash. Finding none they stole a set of audio speakers.
Property was recovered from the residences of all three suspects. The Bearded Dragon was recovered alive and donated to a third party by the owner, a teacher at Bergman School.
Justin Lathrop is being held at the Boone County Jail on $25,000.00 Bond. The two juveniles are free awaiting charges in the 14th Judicial District Juvenile Court.
