On Sunday, August 4th, 2013, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a frantic female about her father-in-law trying to shoot her mother-in-law in the Valley Springs area. The caller said her father-in-law was intoxicated, had a shot gun, and was trying to kill her mother-in-law.
While Corporal Scott Hornaday was enroute to the scene, he located the caller and her boyfriend, 30 year old Bryan Campbell of Harrison, in their vehicle near the driveway of the residence. Corporal Hornaday attempted to speak with Campbell who exited his vehicle and then returned to his vehicle and drove to the residence where the altercation took place.
As Corporal Hornaday approached the residence, he heard one shot being fired. Corporal Hornaday gained control of the scene and found that 58 year old Bobby Harris of Harrison had been shot in the leg and Campbell had been shot in the arm.
Both Campbell and Harris were transported to the North Arkansas Regional Medical Center for treatment, released, and then were transported to the Boone County Jail.
It was determined by Investigators that Campbell was first shot by Harris and a struggled ensued over the gun, a 9mm Carbine. Once Campbell gained control over the gun, he turned and fired at Harris striking him in the leg.
Both Harris and Campbell are being charged with Battery 1st degree with Harris being charged with an additional Battery 2nd Degree for striking his wife in the head with a baseball bat. Campbell is facing an additional charge of Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons due to a previous Felony conviction. Harris’ bond was set at $25,000.00 with Campbell’s bond being set at $15,000.00 and both are currently incarcerated at the Boone County Jail.
