Boone County Sheriff Mike Moore reports that his office is currently investigating multiple cattle thefts here in Boone County. Since October 6, 2015 the Boone County Sheriff’s department has received four separate reports of such thefts. The reports state that at least thirty seven (37) head of cattle have been taken. The thefts have occurred in the Wolf Springs, Myrtle, Zinc and Crawford Road areas of Boone County.
The thefts sites are usually remotely located, on low traffic roads with very few or no surrounding residences. It is believed that the cattle are being taken in the late evening or after dark hours. The number of cattle taken during these thefts range from as few as three to as many as fifteen cattle.
Information developed during the investigation has identified a thirty foot rusty red trailer as being used in at least one of the thefts.
