Michael Cory Williams
Sheriff Mike Moore announced today that the on-going investigation of the armed robberies that occurred at the convenience stores in Boone County on June 14th and 15th has come to a successful arrest.
Michael Cory Williams 29 years of age from Marianna, AR developed as the lead suspect in the case. Williams was connected to a third armed robbery in Benton, AR on June 16th that eventually involved a pursuit by the Arkansas State Police of the white 2012 Toyota Camry that was used in the crimes. Being able to avoid capture at that time, the Camry was found burned in the Little Rock area and evidence at the scene connected Williams to the case.
It was discovered that the Camry had been reported stolen from the Marvel, Arkansas area. Williams who is on active parole, had a parole violation warrant for his arrest, which led to the parole fugitive task force and the US Marshals being asked to assist with the apprehension of Williams.
On 06/28/2016 St. Francis County reported the apprehension of Williams after he attempted to evade capture again. Williams who was being held on the parole warrant and additional new charges relating to the pursuit was interviewed by Harrison and Boone County detectives regarding the armed robberies. Williams confessed his involvement in those crimes. Williams will be facing aggravated robbery charges in Boone County; this offense does carry the highest degree of penalty, which is potentially a life sentence.
